Presentation Report 4(New Year Food)

 1. Tsuyoshi Horikawa

He talked about ozoni and rice cake. Rice cake has been eaten since the Heian period, but since it became cheaper in the Edo period, it has been eaten by the general people. Kanto eats square-shaped rice cakes, and Kansai eats round-shaped rice cake. It is dangerous if you do not eat slowly. I thought it was interesting to talk using gestures.

2. Fuka Inomoto

She talked about rice cake. It is said that you can benefit from good health and longevity by offering rice cakes to God. Mochi is used for ozoni and shiruko. It has a square shape in the Kanto region and a circle shape in the Kansai region. I thought it was interesiting to talk using Power Point.

3. Kyouka Unoki

She talked about Zouni. Zoni is a traditional Japanese dish. She introduced four types of ozoni. In Iwate prefecture, walnut ozoni is eaten, and salmon roe is also eaten. White miso ozoni is eaten in Kyoto prefecture. Kinako zoni is eaten in Nara prefecture and is sweet. In Tottori prefecture, ozoni similar to zenzai is eaten. I thought it was interesiting that many ozoni that I had never eaten were introduced.

4. Honoka Kohama

She talked about world new year food. In Russia, perimeni, which is similar to dumplings, is eaten. In France, a king's sweet called Garrett de Royce is eaten. In Korea, we eat a dish called Tokuku, which contains rice cakes and vegetables. Eushen and pineapple tarts are eaten in Singapore. In Italy, we eat Lentissier, and in Hong Kong, we eat Hong Kong Tanwen, a red and white rice cake. I thought it was intreresting that in some countries, not only food but also sweets are eaten as a celebration of the New Year.

5. Maharo Sugimoto

She talked about the rice cake. Mochi can be eaten in various ways. There are Isobe-yaki, which is wrapped in glue, oshiruko, which is eaten with soup containing sweet azuki beans, and kinako mochi, which is eaten with kinako. There are also zunda mochi that can be eaten in the Tohoku region and natto mochi that is eaten by people who like natto. I thought it was interesting to introduced how to eat mochi that I hear for the first time called natto mochi.

6. Rina Matsunaga

She talked about Japanese and foreign New Year Food. Osechi eaten in Japan is said to be good if you add an odd number of dishes. This is because odd numbers are said to be good numbers. Asian countries celebrate Lunar New Year.

7. Mami Harada

She talked about Amami's New Year Food. In Amami, we eat a dish called Sangon. It is divided into three bowls. The red bowl contains seaweed and boiled eggs, the black bowl contains chicken and pork, and the other bowl contains sashimi. In Amami, we eat it with shochu. I thought it was interesitng that there are areas in Japan where non-osechi dishes are traditionally eaten.

8. Maika Kawamura

She talked about Koria New Year Food. February 1st is celebrated as New Year in Korea. Mandu, which resembles dumplings, John, Japchae, which is a Korean-style tempura, and kalbi-jjim, which has three different flavors, are eaten. I thought it was interesting that there are three flavors of food: sweet, spicy, and yangnyeom.

9. Rina Tatae

She talked about World New Year Food. In China, family members make and eat dumplings. Also, eat yellow and green rice cakes. In Italy, Lenticchie is eaten. In the United States, a dish called black and pee that uses beans and meat is eaten. I thought it was interesting that the color of the rice cake was yellow or green and it was flashy.
